About Our CSA
What is a CSA: CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. These farms reflect an innovative and resourceful strategy to connect local farmers with local consumers; develop a regional food supply and strong local economy; maintain and enhance a sense of community; and encourage land stewardship and honor the knowledge and experience of the growers working small farms. CSA is a unique model of local agriculture whose roots reach back 30 years to Japan where a group of women concerned about the increase in food imports and the corresponding decrease in the farming population, initiated a direct growing and purchasing relationship between their group and local farms. This arrangement, called “teikei” in Japanese, translates to “putting the farmers face on the food”. We are continuing the tradition here.
Our CSA: Sol Food Farm’s CSA is a partnership of mutual commitment with our supportive community to provide a direct link between the production and consumption of food. Come to the farm once a week to pick up your share of the harvest from June 1st to Thanksgiving. See the attached harvest projection to anticipate your share. Your commitment of $30 per week assumes the costs, risks, and bounty of growing food along with the farmers. You are helping pay for seeds, compost, water, the green house and equipment maintenance. In return, our labor and the farm provide a healthy supply of local fresh produce throughout the growing season. Thank you for your support!
